Funk Club presents ‘Barefeet Sojourns’ Last Dance’ with special guests

Funk Club are honoured to be hosting the Barefeet Sojourns for their last dance, their farewell show, their last ever gig before they disband and go their separate ways. Although it is sad to see the end of an era, we are going to send them out in style with the biggest Funk Club party that we can throw them. Joining in the celebration and keeping the dance floor pumping are Freo favourites The Bambuseae Rhythm Section, Freo legend Mikey Boase and his band, and a Freo home coming for the travelling gypsy Manoa. Join us for the farewell party that will leave a tear in your eye, a song in your heart and a dance in your feet.

The party starts at 8pm on the 25/11/2017 at the Odd Fellow (Norfolk Basement), get your tickets early!

Barefeet Sojourns only came onto the scene a few years ago, and in that short time that have won over audiences everywhere they have played. The electric troupe have a compelling sound and a honed stage presence that create a truly memorable experience for everyone lucky enough to be drawn on to one of their heaving dance floors. The dynamic five piece tackles a range of instruments to offer their very own world fusion of Roots, Latin, Gypsy, Ska, Reggae, Pop and Swing. BFS present something different: provocative yet inclusive, fast yet soul feeding, stimulating yet sensitive and certainly dance urging

Helping us send them out in style will be some Freo’s favourites:

The Bambuseae Rhythm Section - Perth and Fremantle’s very own Disciples of BluesFunk. An original 8-piece group of musicians from all over the globe. With their diverse musical and cultural influences, they fuse together a blend of Blues, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Rock and World music to produce a wholly unique and dynamic style of their own.

Mikey Boase Band – he’s been  on the Freo scene for many years, beating the drums for many bands and now this beast is stepping out front and leading the his band of friends and musicians to give you the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk! When this master of rhythm has created a set of tunes with that Funk flavour, you know it’s going to good.

Manoa – California-born and Byron based roots artist Manoa draws upon his reggae and folk influences to weave a dynamic soundscape of upbeat songs with positive messages and intention. His music ranges from laid back soulful folk melodies to upbeat infectious reggae and funky jams that uplift the spirit, inspire bodies to move and get people grinning from ear to ear! Manoa’s early musical influences come from growing up sailing around the Carribbean, where he was influenced by the music of the islands.
